Manel Esclusa was once defined to me as a “pure photographer”, to this we must always add that, within his magnificent career, he is one of the photographers who has a more important role within the artistic space of his generation and who, with his purity, has stood the test of time, always with a constant and brilliant evolution, and has not been contaminated by conceptual art, nor by the art of post-modernity. takes everything that is photography to the extreme, the images, the light and, above all, the light within the great darkness that characterises his work.

after so many great photographers who have passed through cadaqués, such as the immense figure of man ray or many others as significant as català roca, miserachs or lacroix and, at a time as important as the present for photography, we could not forget manel esclusa, who had part of his beginnings in that magical cadaqués of the seventies.

now, we bring him back.

after more than twenty-five years without setting foot in our territory and already being one of the greats with national and international recognition, already in the best collections, institutions and museums on the planet, such as the queen sofia art centre or the moma in new york, here we bring you a selection of pieces from his most important series, together with some unpublished photos and others from his first works in Cadaqués.

we present this first individual of the second stage of the galeria cadaqués and, hoping for the complicity of art lovers and collectors, we continue the initial project.
