On the occasion of the closing of the 10th Cadaqués International Music Festival, and coinciding with the concert by the renowned flutist Jean-pierre Rampal, the Galeria Cadaqués organized the action “Flute and Trampoline” by the artist Antoni Miralda, with the collaboration of Montse Guillén.
The artist’s idea was to symbolically bring together the church, where the festival concerts were held, and the sea. For this, Miralda’s team built an extravagant 50-meter trampoline table that went from Sa Plaça to the City Hall viewpoint. He dressed the table with “blauet” colored tablecloths and presented a banquet based on anchovies (symbol of the sea) and “botifarres dolces” (symbol of the mountain), served on typical clay tiles from the region.
At the beginning of the table there was a chocolate covered sponge cake sculpture representing the head of Saint John the Baptist, in commemoration of the saint’s beheading (which was celebrated on August 29).
At one end of the table, on the compass rose of Sa Plaça, there was star drawn with blue salt, on which a thousand small glasses of Grenache were placed.
Attendees received a baked “flute” (thin baguette) with a cane flute inside, which is a nod to the double meaning of the word “pan” (the food and name of the mythological demi-god who plays the flute) and a silver cape. . The inhabitants of Cadaqués gladly participated in the action, decorating the balconies and facades on the streets near the installation.
