His interest in contemporary art and in introducing little-known international artists to Spain led Bombelli to present Calderara’s work, which he had discovered through a Swiss gallery and which is described in the catalogue as “an abstract work of geometric rigour”. The works, 30 originals, were variations on minimal elements, which, through the subtle, transparent use of colour, sometimes seem almost monochrome.

 

The gallery produced two series of editions of Calderara’s work:
