Throughout my young life, I have learned that art is continuity and rupture. I owe this maxim to the apprenticeship I have had with my parents, cosmopolitan travellers; and my father, the antique dealer, the basis of everything, my mother, grandmother and even my grandfather, a great conversationalist from the Maritim with Josep Pla, Dalí and so many friends and clients.
I have discovered, also in Cadaqués, that you can be from a place by bringing the art world from outside, and that from here you can expand international art. I owe this to my parents as antique dealers and to lanfranco bombelli as the great promoter of international art that he has become. the rupture is the discovery of a new world that I now present to you with the complicity of the artists.
on the 27th of July 2003 I opengaleria cadaqués dos located in the place of the mythical galeria cadaqués and I do it offering you two exhibitions in one. in the first, sponsored by the architect, artist and gallery owner lanfranco bombelli, I show some of the most representative artists who exhibited in Galeria Cadaqués; in the second, with the help and sponsored by the writer and trafficker of ideas vicenç altaió, I present for the first time in the gallery a suitable selection of artists of current art. The first ones are classics, of the second ones, some are continuers of the avant-garde spirit with their own language and others are also already classic masters.
I must now, in the years to come, commit myself to seek out the newest art, also that of my generation, and never forget and pay homage to the classics, the current masters I admire so much, nor to the ancient world.
I would like to thank the artists for their friendship and trust. this is a cultural adventure that hopes to find the complicity of art lovers and collectors as well as the continuity of the project itself.
thirty years ago on 27 july, lanfranco bombelli made an identical gamble that will go down in history by opening the prestigious galeria cadaqués. to him, my homage and yours.
